Overview
Bronto lets you control how long your log data is stored — both as a global default across your organisation and as custom overrides per dataset.Data marked for deletion will enter a grace period and remains queryable before expiration.
Organisation Policy
The Organisation Policy sets the default retention period applied to all datasets that don’t have a custom override. Your plan determines the maximum retention available. To update the default:- Go to Settings → Plan → Retention.
- Under Organization Policy, select a retention period from the Default Retention dropdown.
- Click Save Default.
Custom Retention Overrides
You can override the default retention for individual datasets — useful when certain data needs to be kept longer or can be discarded sooner. To apply a custom override:- Under Filter Datasets, search for the dataset you want to configure.
- Select it — it will appear as a Dataset Rule tag.
- Choose a retention period from the Set retention… dropdown.
- Click Save.
Viewing Retention by Dataset
The right panel shows all datasets grouped by their retention status:- Custom Retention Overrides — datasets with a specific retention rule applied, and the count of datasets affected.
- Using Default Retention — all remaining datasets inheriting the organisation default. Expand any namespace to see the individual datasets within it.
