# Global flags

> Flags every bronto command accepts.

These flags are defined on the root `bronto` command and are accepted by every subcommand.

| Flag | Short | Type | Default | Description |

| `--api-key` | | string | | Bronto API key (prefer the BRONTO\_API\_KEY env var) |
| `--base-url` | | string | | override the API base URL |
| `--debug` | | bool | | print API requests and responses on stderr, with API keys and other secrets redacted |
| `--dry-run` | | bool | | print mutating API calls instead of executing them (reads still run) |
| `--fields` | | strings | | select specific fields (comma-separated); use '?' to list available field names |
| `--jq` | | string | | jq expression applied to json/jsonl output (each result prints on its own line); values that fail the expression are skipped |
| `--max-retries` | | int | `2` | retries for idempotent requests on 429, 502, 503, and 504 (config: max\_retries, env: BRONTO\_MAX\_RETRIES) |
| `--no-color` | | bool | | disable color output |
| `--output` | `-o` | string | | output format: table\|json\|jsonl\|raw\|csv |
| `--profile` | | string | | named profile to use |
| `--quiet` | | bool | | suppress non-data messages on stderr |
| `--raw-output` | `-r` | bool | | with --jq, print string results without JSON quotes (like jq -r); other values stay compact JSON |
| `--region` | | string | | Bronto region: eu or us |
| `--timeout` | | int | | HTTP timeout in seconds (config: timeout, env: BRONTO\_TIMEOUT) |

## Root-only flags

These flags apply to `bronto` itself. `-h`/`--help` also works on every subcommand.
